Prevalence and factors associated with low birth weight in full-term newborns

Objective: to estimate the prevalence and verify factors associated with low birth weight in full-term newborns. Methods: this is a retrospective study conducted 24,744 Data were retrieved from Sistema de Informação sobre Nascidos Vivos (Information System on Live Births). For analysis, multiple logistic regression was used using hierarchical model maternal, gestational, care variables. Results: of 2.4%, 51.0% cases male newborns, 73.7% women aged 20-34 years; 56.5% multiparous 95.0% had eight years education or more.
